hello,
i'am triing to use my air port as an access point but the other computers can't see the signal.

Code:

powerbook firmware # iwconfig eth1
eth1      IEEE 802.11b/g  ESSID:"pippo"  Nickname:"Broadcom 4306"
Mode:Master  Frequency=2.447 GHz  Access Point: Invalid
          Bit Rate=1 Mb/s   Tx-Power=15 dBm
          RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:off
          Link Quality:0  Signal level:0  Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0  Rx invalid crypt:0  Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0

Code:

powerbook firmware # bcm43xx-fwcutter -i /tmp/wl_apsta.o
bcm43xx-fwcutter can cut the firmware out of /tmp/wl_apsta.o

  filename :  wl_apsta.o
  version  :  3.130.20.0
  MD5      :  e08665c5c5b66beb9c3b2dd54aa80cb3

powerbook firmware # uname -a
Linux powerbook 2.6.18-gentoo #1 Thu Sep 21 03:30:13 CEST 2006 ppc 7447A, altivec supported PowerBook5,5 GNU/Linux

Master Mode is not supported with the SoftMAC driver and is only partially supported in the devicescape port. In the future, make sure that you call your card an Airport Extreme, not an Airport (which has the orinoco chipset).
