Did you find a solution with smpeg?
Same problem here with smpeg-0.4.4-r8:

If I try to run games like fish fillets or glest:

Didn't find a solution on this forum or goolge. Can someone help me? Thx!

There has been a work around posted on the Bugs list....
make an overlay ebuild and then change

WANT_AUTOCONF="latest"
WANT_AUTOMAKE="latest"

to

WANT_AUTOCONF="2.5"
WANT_AUTOMAKE="1.9"

You also have to change the Manifest to fix the checksums.

PostPosted: Tue Oct 17, 2006 7:22 pm    Post subject: Overlay Ebuild Reply with quote

You have to create an overlay ebuild, say in
/usr/local/portage....
configure your make.conf to see the overlay directory
copy the ebuild for smpeg to the overlay directory and change the ebuild there
do
cat /usr/portage/media-libs/smpeg/smpeg-0.4.4-r8.ebuild to verify that is the file to change
and use your favorite editor to change that ebuild file

see the ebuild docs for more info

Hi (again):

I don't understand how make an overlay ebuild. I've been reading man make.conf and man ebuild but I don't understand.
Anyone can tell me how do it? Be specific, please.

Thanks

Hi,

I also have this problem on my box. It came up during a a "emerge -u --deep world" . But there is a working version of smpeg on my box (0.4.4-r7), so I decided to try to stay with this working version by simply doing a

Code:
emerge --resume --skipfirst

until a fixed package of smpeg will be available in portage. May be this is only a small workaround, but maybe that is enough :wink:

I get the same error as the topic author. Only difference is that I'm using smpeg-0.4.4-r8 instead of r7.. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Well.. Ten(!) offtopic posts in a row was quite unnecessary..

Hi,

smpeg-0.4.4-r8 seems to be broken, you could try to use an older one (if one is available in portage)

I have tried r8, r7 and r6... These seems to be the only ones available?

I "solved" it by disabling the gtk USE-flag for smpeg...

Code:
# flagedit media-libs/smpeg -gtk

thanks, Urkburk. this seemed to resolve the problem. another 20 minutes wasted on a busted portage package system. this was actually my 2nd error with running emerge -uD world, prior to that, the system though i needed to set some use flags. so i set them and ran the emerge with --newuse, and now this busts.

I've got to agree with BillyBoy on this one. How this package got marked as stable is beyond me. I certainly don't have smpeg in my package.keywords or anything to require a beta package here.

thanks again for the fix Urkburk.
