Everything until now was going great!! untill i got to the part in the instructions called
---------------
7.b. Installing the Sources

Choosing a Kernel
-----------
I put the code in:

Code Listing 2: Installing a kernel source

# USE="-doc symlink" emerge gentoo-sources

and then it tries to access a lot of web addresses and eventually says "!!! Couldnt download genpatches........... Aborting.

I am not on a network and the instructions say that gentoo-sources is for use on a networkless install. What shall i do from here?
Thanks you!!!!!

Could you post a link to the doc you are using?

I'm not sure you are in a networkless install method...

Part 3 of that guide is Configuring your Network and there does not appear to be a way around it.

There is a bit that says
So, if you don't need networking, you can skip the rest of this chapter and continue with Preparing the Disks. Otherwise, continue with the networking configuration sections below.

I think i must of done this! there MUST be a way to install gentoo without internet.

If you have no Internet connexion and can't have one, you may use the packages CD and instead of doing "normal" emerges, use the packages that are on the CD....

You have to copy the package files into /usr/portage/packages (I'm not 100% sure of the location), then use

Code:
emerge -K packageName
