Hi,
i have the following message when booting the kenrel>
Quote:
VFS: Cannot open root device "hda6" or unknown-block (0,0)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

The case is>
I have a debian on hda3, from debian i chroot into Gentoo on hda6. i used a custom kernel, but i needed some things more and added them in modules. i recompiled it chrooted as written, installed vmlinux and System.map, (cp) also make modules_install. When checked yaboot and for safety i ran ybin and tried to boot into Gentoo i got this message.

The yaboot conf is the following:
Quote:

boot=/dev/hda2
device=/pci@f2000000/mac-io@17/ata-4@1f000/disk@0:
timeout=100
partition=3
install=/usr/lib/yaboot/yaboot
magicboot=/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot

image=/boot/zImage.nfs
label=debian
root=/dev/hda3
read-only

image=/boot/zImage
label=gentoo
partition=6
root=/dev/hda6
read-only

image=/boot/vmlinux
label=gentoo.vm
partition=6
root=/dev/hda6
read-only

The zImage of gentoo does not start, it stops at recognising the video card and the dislpay. vmlinux runs a bit longer.
I can run Debian but not gentoo / i have to chroot to emerge.. (i am just installing)
