For some not-so-obvious reason, my kernel config is not creating the nv driver needed for my video card on my G5.

From lspci:
Code:
f0:10.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5200 Ultra] (rev a1)

From startx:
Code:
(EE) Failed to load module "nv" (module does not exist, 0)

From kernel config:
Code:
<*> /dev/agpgart (AGP Support)
<*> nVidia Framebuffer Support
   [*]   Enable DDC Support
<*> nVidia Riva support
   [ ]   Enable DDC Support
[ ]   Lots of debug output from Riva(nVidia) driver

What am I missing?
Can I somehow use nvidia-drivers or is there a third party version of nvidia-drivers I could use instead? I know that nvidia and PPC64 machines don't play nice, but I figure someone on here my have a good lead on how to get it working.

[link]www.gentoo.org/doc/en/nvidia-guide.xml[/link]

That tends to be the best resource (that I know of) for getting nvidia to work inside gentoo. Now I don't know if it applies to PPC but I don't see why it wouldn't. Also I have never had much luck or fun with the nv drivers. If you don't mind using the propritary ones i'd say go with them.

The nv driver is in xorg. You need to have VIDEO_CARDS="nv" (or add nv to your existing VIDEO_CARDS) in /etc/make.conf and then, for 7.0, emerge xorg-x11, for 7.1 emerge xorg-server again.
