I recently got my hands on a fully operating Bondi (first in the iMac-series)..
At this moment I dumped Debian on it, as it's easy & fast to install.

Now that I know it's all working I'd like to get gentoo up & running on it. Now's my question if it'll compile n such (it only has a G3, 64mb ram & a 4GB hd).
I've never installed gentoo on a PPC before.
(once tried to compile gentoo on a P1 133MHz, 32mb ram machine.. But it simply didn't work.)

Someone who has experience with compiling on old machines?

I had ran Gentoo on p2 400 with 196Mb memory - it was fine.

If your hardware is supported then you should have no problem (just very long compile times :-) )

Actually, this machine isn't that old, we do support much older. :) 64MB is the very minimum amount of ram supported. If you can find some extra ram to install, the installation will be easier.

Have fun with your "new" iMac :)
