I upgraded to modular xorg-x11 7.1 on my mac mini and the display is very slow. I am using the fbdev driver same as I did in 6.8
When I switch to the radeon driver X never appears on my monitor (an Apple 23" LCD)

Try with only the radeon driver. You can also set the agp mode to 4x speed.

Thanks for your xorg conf file, although I could not use it direclty (screen too small, text blury, can't switch vt's) it did give me some ideas as to what the problem was. merging your config file into mine worked except for display issues which adding Option "ReducedBlanking" to Monitor section worked

The directions listed in the FAQ should work for that machine. If you're feeling especially generous, you could test the latest version of xac (the new version of Xorgautoconfig), since it needs more testing.
