Hi,
I think I'am damned but every time I install Gentoo on my Ibook, i have problem with yaboot !!!
I have followed the guide for partionning etc.

I need a simple clarification :
We do not have to mention any line with /dev/hda1 /boot etc... in fstab isn't it ???
From the guide :

Quote:

Second, create an Apple_Bootstrap partition by using b. It will ask for what block you want to start. Enter the number of your first free partition, followed by a p. For instance this is 2p.

Note: This partition is not a /boot partition. It is not used by Linux at all; you don't have to place any filesystem on it and you should never mount it. Apple users don't need an extra partition for /boot.

And then :
Quote:

Let us take a look at how we write down the options for the /boot partition. This is just an example, if you didn't or couldn't create a /boot, don't copy it.

In our default PPC partitioning example, /boot is usually the /dev/hda1 partition (or /dev/sda* if you use SCSI or SATA drives), with ext2 as filesystem. It needs to be checked during boot, so we would write down:

Code Listing 2: An example /boot line for /etc/fstab

/dev/hda1 /boot ext2 defaults 1 2

I think this line does not have to be added, but it is not clear.

Thanks ![/code]

Hi
You don't need to have a separate boot partition.
So you don't need a such a line in /etc/fstab.
