I made it through the install process on my G5, but the kernel will not cooperate. I can boot from the hard drive (at last), but the process freezes after several screens, at "core99_setup_cpu 0 done".

I'm extremely frustrated with this, especially since there's probably some tiny thing I'm not doing right. But I can't figure out what it is.

You have most likely forgotten to build in framebuffer support. You may want to start with the correct basic settings by using the default config as shown below. This should set up a bootable G5 kernel.

Well, since I posted, I reinstalled from scratch, and now have completely different problems. Now I can't boot at all.

When I try to call the kernel in /boot, it says "unknown or corrupt filesystem."

what is is the file system on /boot ?

can you still boot into the live cd and read the file system there?

where does that message come from? yaboot?
