Yes, I have it running on my iBook G4. The 3D effects are on the slow side since it is an underpowered video card, and you have to do some reconfiguration if you want to use the "Super" key properly, but it is doable.

Yeah Beryl is much more enjoyable on a Pentium M 2.0 GHz with 2 GB of RAM ;-).

I got beryl working in 16 bit merge fb dev mode on my powerbook titanium radeon card 9000. I am using the new xorg-server 1.2 and xorg-x11-7.2 seems stable somewhat. xorg-server 1 and xorg-x11-7.1 did not work well with beryl. i also used a stage one to build.

beryl compiled and works somewhat, but not well. Fails to redraw window contents without (un)minimizing, also crashes. I use kde though and may not have configured everything properly. Beryl may work better with gnome or xfce4. Slowness not a problem, comparable to kde with some of the visual effects enabled. Much better than kde with transparency.

I have this problem, too. The strange thing is I had earlier versions running acceptably well, but then after some upgrades it started behaving as you've described. I wasn't able to figure out which upgrade caused the problem, though.

i am using linux-headers 2.6.20 and gentoo-sources-2.6.19-r5 and it seems to be stable. i could not get alsa to work because of the instable 2.6.20 linux-headers on mac. i ran a ubuntu live cd feisty and it gave me kernel bug level error so i went back to 2.6.19. if you look on beryl forum some one states that beryl at 1280x854 has problems at high resolutions above 1024x768. may be a ati mac card issue. using the frame buffer at 16bit seems to fix this. also screensavers i think may cause beryl some problems. not sure. last beryl uses transparency so i doesn't like transparency with some window managers. that's what i have found.

So it turns out reading the directions is valuable after all :oops: .

While I had it running earlier, it seems the current versions need to have LD_LIBRARY_PATH set when you start it. I tried starting Beryl according to the directions here:
http://wiki.beryl-project.org/wiki/Install_Beryl_on_Gentoo and it works! The problem with nothing being rendered in the window until it's minimized and restored is gone.
Code:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/opengl/xorg-x11/lib/ \
beryl --replace dbus settings &
emerald &

I'm running Gentoo-sources 2.6.19-r5, xorg-server-1.2.99.902 with AIGLX, and beryl-0.2.1. This is on an iMac G5 with an ATI 9600.

After upgrading to the new Profile (2007.0/desktop/G4) i have Beryl running very smoth on my Alu-PB G4 1GHZ (Radeon 9600).
The Problem is that the Session does not survive after Suspend to Ram and the Gnome-logout does not work either.

Yes I also had the same problems (with Gnome user-switching as well). But this seems to me to be a bug in Beryl.
