I have old (way too old, actualy) debian on one hdd, and one empty hdd. I've managed to untar stage3 to empty one, but can not chroot to it (the message is that my kernel is too old). I can connect a fdd to it, and I'm wondering if there is some kind of boot floppy? I've never worked with ppc, so I'll try to explain what I would like in the terms of pc world. Something like grub (it doesn't work on ppc, right?) startup floppy from which I can enter command prompt and boot livecd kernel (copied trough network). Netboot crossed my mind, but for some reason, it fails to boot on experimental PC box (i know PC better, so I've tried to set it up there first). Anyway, booting from floppy can be more informative then netboot. Any doc on this? Thanx!

Unfortunately, we don't have a boot floppy at this time. You'll need an old (2004.1 is probably your best bet) stage 3 to do a Gentoo install from an old Debian boot floppy, newer versions use too new glibcs (nptl enabled). Or, you can install a newer kernel on the debian install (2.6.x should work) and then install as normal.
