not sure if this is the right place for the support question, but I feel I am asking the right people...

My wifes ibook (13.1inch white version 600mhz) running OS X 10.4.??? can print to my HP PSC
1400 series printer through a "web interface" config of the remote printer using ipp (http) from
opera, but nothing else!!!!

I am also wondering how can I get it to print from open office etc? I tried the good old
operating system interface set up but it insists on using an ipp address not an http one?
is this due to apple changing the cups code when they packaged it into the OS or some other issue?

thanks in advance,

Abdullah.

I'm not sure how this question is relevant to running Linux on PowerPC? For what it's worth, I have an iBook running OSX that prints fine to a CUPS server running on Linux, so it's certainly possible, but this is not the right forum.

But i did spend a number of days trying to get it to work as much as I have...

Needless to say the only reason her laptop ISN'T running gentoo is because none of the PPC23bit install cd's worked on it, they either wouldn't boot or if they booted they wouldn't load the graphix card, after 2 weeks trying to set it up and not getting enough sleep and her nagging me to spend less time setting up her mac and more with her it went to mac OS as she hated (k)ubuntu's program installation method (not OS, she liked how easy that install was)...

what I was more or less wanting to know is how do I get it to print to my x86 running gentoo? it is a OS X issue i know, but the non paid help I have been able to get from them is well USELESS... and I thought that you all being mac users you would be able to tell me in a second...

I fixed it...

After not finding any help on this matter here or anywhere, I removed the printer and
re-installed it (giving it a name dis-simillar to the one I gave it here on the gentoo box)...

after I did this i tried a terst print and noticed it was defaulting to the name I gave it on the
gentoo box and not the new name I set up (there are no other printers installed on the ibook
but for some reason open office and some other programs list every printer that ever was as
well as what is installled... So after setting the default in thier set-up to the correct local raw
printer everything works.
