http://packages.gentoo.org/search/?sstring=vmware
No PPC ebuild is available. You'll have to go on manually.

Well you could have helped the lady out a bit more than that...

I think what she is trying to ask is;

A) Is it possible?

B) How can she do it?

Un-fortunately though I have no idea on either of those as I am a x86 user, but was here to see my prev posts about my wifes ibook and was interested in the answer to this question...

I don't think it's possible.
You may want to try Qemu : http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO:_Qemu

It's impossible since vmware does virtualization and not emulation, the major part of the guest code is executed on the physical CPU. Obviously, this is only possible if guest and host processor architecture match... Indeed, a full emulator like qemu is the only way to go to execute x86 code on ppc...

yeah use qemu

I have an iBookG4 and use it but unfortunatly the windows install (of xp) was extremely slow.. but it does run windows at a useable speed
-
The other problem I had was that qemu-user wouldnt compile, which is a dependancy of qemu, but if you emerge qemu with the --nodeps flag qemu still works, you just wont be able to run .exe's without emulating a full OS.

I don't know about a workaround, that bug seems to be unresolved.

Follow this guide if you want to try qemu:
