I have a powerbook g4 I just installed gentoo on.. it is working brilliantly, without any configuring (just installing pbbuttonsd) I have suspend working, close the lid, it suspends, open again, it awakes...

one problem after it has woken, the display quality is awful.. the fonts look terrible, and in genera everything is kind of messed up. like the entire screen got lots of cracks in it.. (well that is a little exagerated)...

If I restart X the problem is still there.....

any ideas? common problem ? (I've been on x86 for years now... so perhaps I just missed what I was supposed to do)

video card is ati radeon M11, fyi. xorg video driver radeon.

Try turning off the MergedFB option in your xorg.conf. The MergedFB option sometimes finds the external head and screws with the display.

when I did that X blanked out and hard locked... ie, ctrl-alt-del does not kill it, ctrl alt f1 does not go to vt1, etc... I had to hard shut down twice....

any idea why this might be the case? and any way to get it to work better?
