Hi,

I have a quick question about installing Gentoo.

I have a 12" Powerbook and unfortunately the 128MB (soldered!) onboard RAM is damaged at several locations.

What i want to do is install Gentoo on it, patching the kernel with BadRAM so i can 'mark' these areas as off limits.

Would it be possible for me to apply the patches, cross-compile the kernel on an x86 system, then un-SquashFS the Install/Boot CD, replace the kernel with the one i just built, and then install?

Does this seem like a good idea and (more importantly!) is it possible?

Owen
