I have a rev b imac g5 2ghz, i've put gentoo on it and so far, so good, however i have one problem, the backlight, i cant gt it to turn off, and pbuttonsd wont work because it uses the pmu, but my imac has a smu, so my question is thus, does anyone know how to get the backlight off?

graphics card is radeon 9600 with opensource driver

all help appricated

is this problem apple-specific?
this is what is use on my pc to power off the diplay (after a specified amount of time):

yeh i think its an apple thing because ie i tried that and it wont work, also /usr/bin/xset dpms force off jus blanks the screen, but doesn't turn the backlight off

Did you make sure to compile in the radeon i2c and backlight support?

Yeh got those compiled in, still won't work, fblevel complains about missing /dev/pmu, I've posted my kernel config here: http://megared.50webs.com/linux/config
