I have compiled a new kernel for my 12" power book,
updated yaboot.conf with the new kernel as well as keeping the old.
I have also run ybin -v.
My problem is that I keep booting my old kernel, how do I select my new kernel ?
This is my yaboot.conf file, kernel_1 is my old kernel:

boot=/dev/hda2
device=/pci@f4000000/ata-6@/disk@0:
ofboot=hd:2
partition=4
delay=10
timeout=40
sysmap=/boot/system.map-kernel_1
install=/usr/lib/yaboot/yaboot
magicboot=/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot
image=/boot/kernel_1
label-Linux-kernel_1

image//boot/2.6.21-gentoo-r4
label=2.6.21

read only

What I want to do is choose which kernel to boot, kernel_1 or 2.6.21-gentoo-r4 while I am testing and tweaking my new kernel

The typo was in my post not my actual yaboot.conf file. The thing I did not
know was to hold down the tab key at boot

Tab just tells you which label names are available. You can simply just type in the label name you want to use at the yaboot prompt.
