I'm trying to update world on my two IBM's. I'm doing them one at a time since I'm using distcc. The only two packages left to update on "ibm_right" are glibc and gcc. After all the other packages were updated, glibc seemingly went into an endless compile loop. As mentioned, I am using distcc and I can tell that both ibm_right and ibm_left are involved in the compilation. I'm also using ccache and parallel fetch. Should glibc-2.5-r4 be taking more than 2-3 hours to compile between two compilers?

I dont know the reason for the endless loop, but I suggest you to upgrade to glibc-2.6.1

Would that be a good idea with a 2.6.16 vanilla kernel? Due to an apparent bug, my systems won't boot with the stable gentoo sources.

Well, I found out yesterday, that it is just a really large compile. I just needed to give it 3 hours or so. I started the compile before work and when I came home from work, glibc and gcc were compiled.
