I've been a Firefox fan for years, but have been using Opera lately, despite its license, because it seems to be getting faster and faster. Maybe I'm just too dumb to configure Firefox properly, but for me there's a substantial difference in speed.

Anyway, I've always emerged Opera with USE="qt-static" because it's the only thing on my machine I need qt for. Last week I emerged the new 9.5 beta 1, with USE="qt-static" and it's been zipping along fine. However, today I emerged 9.5 beta 2 and qt-3 showed up as a dependency to be emerged.

Sure enough it's there in the dependency strings, just for ppc. Apparently there is no qt-static version for ppc. I may be tripping, but I swear that yesterday there was (prior to beta 2 version).
Code:
    ppc?            =x11-libs/qt-3*          x11-libs/qt-3.3.8-r4
    !qt-static?     =x11-libs/qt-3*          x11-libs/qt-3.3.8-r4

Does anyone know why? Is this temporary (for the beta) or will Opera 9.5 not be available with qt-static?

Not a big deal, but I'd just like to know because if I'm going to need qt I might want to enable the flag for some other packages as well.

Thanks! I take that to indicate the lapse is just during the beta (which makes sense).
Guess I should have looked at the change log. :)
