Is the situation below Harmful?

Checked here (under PowerPC):
Safe CFAGS - Gentoo Linux Wiki and was curious.

I downloaded a Stage3 Tarball and finally got my 17" G4 up and running with Gentoo. The tarball was optimized for G4:
Code:
CFLAGS="-mcpu=G4 -O2 -pipe -maltivec -fno-strict-aliasing"

While I was compiling my kernel, i ran:
Code:
cat /proc/cpuinfo

The output reported a processor of 7447 rev A. I read at the Bottom of the Safe CFAGS - Gentoo Linux Wiki page and saw:

Relevant files in gcc source code
rs6000c Source File in which I saw:
Code:

/* This table occasionally claims that a processor does not support
     a particular feature even though it does, but the feature is slower
     than the alternative.  Thus, it shouldn't be relied on as a
     complete description of the processor's support.

     Please keep this list in order, and don't forget to update the
     documentation in invoke.texi when adding a new processor or
     flag.  */
  static struct ptt
    {
      const char *const name;      /* Canonical processor name.  */
      const enum processor_type processor; /* Processor type enum value.  */
      const int target_enable;   /* Target flags to enable.  */
    } const processor_target_table[]
...
 {"G4",  PROCESSOR_PPC7450, POWERPC_7400_MASK},
...
 };

Am I doing harm to my system by being 3 off, and should I be using:
Code:
CFLAGS="-mcpu=7400 -O2 -pipe -maltivec -fno-strict-aliasing"

Your cpu is a G4 processor, so -mcpu=G4 is fine.
