At the risk of exposing myself to ridicule by being the only person who didn't know this, I'll share something I discovered recently, and ask if it's always been this way or is a recent change.

You can set the AGP mode for r128 just like you can for radeon. While it's not documented in r128(4x), these options do appear to work (e.g. in xorg.conf):
Code:
Option  "AGPMode" "<integer>"
Option  "EnablePageFlip" "<boolean>"

So, if you've got, say a 2x Rage Pro, you can actually set it to that. For me, this yielded about a 50% improvement as measured by glxgears fps.

Always been that way?
Or this is new?

I think it's been like that for a while. It would be really nice if you would write a documentation patch for the manual page and send it upstream! :)

It seems someone is working on merging the r128 and radeon code. What I described is an early benefit of that.

Not sure if I did this right. Could somebody tell me before I put it in bugzilla and make a fool of myself?
