I managed to install gentoo on my PS3. I want to use WPA protection on my wireless network instead on WEP. As far as I know current driver for PS3 original hardware only allows to use WEP. I have a USB Edimax dongle based on Atheros chipset, so I decided to give madwifi-ng a try, however it woes that powerpc-elf is invalid:
Code:
>>> Compiling source in /var/tmp/portage/net-wireless/madwifi-ng-0.9.3.3/work/madwifi-0.9.3.3 ...
 * Preparing ath_hal module
../Makefile.inc:159: *** TARGET powerpc-elf is invalid, valid targets are: alpha-elf ap30 ap43 ap51 ap61 arm9-le-thumb-elf armv4-be-elf armv4-le-elf i386-elf mips-be-elf mips-le-elf mips1-be-elf mips1-le-elf mipsisa32-be-elf mipsisa32-le-elf powerpc-be-eabi powerpc-be-elf powerpc-le-eabi sh4-le-elf sparc-be-elf sparc64-be-elf x86_64-elf xscale-be-elf xscale-le-elf.  Stop.

Does anyone have any experiences with madwifi on PS3? Can someone suggest any other usb dongle with ability to be used with PS3 and WPA / WPA2 ?

According to the Madwifi website it does support PowerPC so I don' know what is going on there. You could try extracting the tar ball somewhere and patching the kernel sources. Alternatively there is a newer version of Madwifi out now maybe that is worth a try.

Madwifi supports ppc, but not ppc64. You won't get anywhere with it. And Madwifi doesn't support USB devices anyway.
