Hi,
I cant update my system because the package dev-libs/boost produces an ebuild error. And when I try to mask it all ebuilds that could satisfy "~dev-util/boost-build-1.34.1" have been masked. Any idea what to do?

Same problem here, just made an eix-sync and boost-build does not recompile (it is currently installed, same version, but without the python use flag).
Actually the problem is this:

"i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc" -o bin.linuxx86/bjam [...]

What are those quotation marks??? I still don't know where they come from, but they are causing the problem.

well, it's coming from the code in the ebuild
Code:
CC=$(tc-getCC)
The tc-getCC function is in the toolchain-funcs eclass. That's probably the place to look. I don't really have time...

For those people where dev-util/boost-build-1.34.1 is already installed:
The emerge seems to be necessitated iff using -N,
by an additionally introduced USE flag:
Code:
$ emerge -avuDN world                                                   <-- please, note the "N"
[ebuild   R   ] dev-util/boost-build-1.34.1  USE="python%*" 12,683 kB   <-- please, note the "%"

In order to survive until fixed updates arrive, the following mask will sufficiently help:
Code:
# /etc/package.mask   - hard-masking packages

# ignore - won't compile cleanly: quoted "x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc" from double-quoted tc-getCC

=dev-util/boost-build-1.34.1

That worked for me;
Code:

LDFLAGS="--verbose" emerge -va1 dev-util/boost-build

taken from Jeroen Roovers post at bugzilla .
