"make install" has been broke from the beginning. It has never seemed to work. The kernel make files call for installkernel to move the files which in turn calls to mkboot to make the new kernel bootable. It looks like installkernel is failing because it mkboot cannot find grub or lilo. Anyone have a script that can do this process, or know of a program, I'd appreciate it.

Update: I discovered the installkernel isn't even on the disc - not sure if it would be that much of a difference.

I never used 'make install', it's really not too tedious to just do it manually after 'make && make modules_install'.

I'm guessing here you're on apple hardware; the kernel is in a different place if your ppc box is a pegasos
Code:

cd /usr/src/linux
cp vmlinux /boot/vimlinux-$VERSION

## edit /etc/yaboot.conf to add a new kernel entry if needed

ybin -v
