Following the install handbook I've untarred stage3-g4-2007.0.tar.bz2 and got as far compiling the kernel, but it bombs with this:
Code:
livecd linux # make
  CHK     include/linux/version.h
  CHK     include/linux/utsrelease.h
  HOSTCC  scripts/basic/fixdep
  HOSTCC  scripts/basic/docproc
  CC      arch/powerpc/kernel/asm-offsets.s
  GEN     include/asm-powerpc/asm-offsets.h
  CALL    scripts/checksyscalls.sh
  CC      scripts/mod/empty.o
Assembler messages:
Error: invalid switch -me200
Error: unrecognized option -me200
make[2]: *** [scripts/mod/empty.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [scripts/mod] Error 2
make: *** [scripts] Error 2
livecd linux # cd /

Doesn't look like anyone's had this before according to Google, but any ideas what this is?
TIA

What kernel sources are you using and what's the output of emerge --info?

Machine is a "windtunnel" 1.0GHz G4

I've managed to emerge everything else, so far the kernel compile is the only holdup.
Cheers

SOLVED!

Whoo boy
Turns out I had the wrong CPU selected even though I could swear going in there and choosing 7xxx series. Must have fat-fingered it, kernel is currently compiling.

At least it'll come up in Google now...
