swfdec using gstreamer works here, but somewhat more slowly. The newer versions of swfdec are faster, but not in portage yet. Downloading them with any of the various downloaders and watching in mplayer is also an option that works well.

neither swfdec ( no gstreamer here) or gnash did ever play youtube here ( at least i get sound now with latest swfdec versions ), so that i´m also using mplayer + youtube-dl.
For old flash objects (=<v7 ) gnash apparently works quite better than swfdec, but both have well known stability/ performance issues afaict.

msears posted here updated ebuilds for latest swfdec in case anyone here wants to test.

cheers

i watch youtube videos inside Firefox with gnash-99999999 (agg Useflag needs to be set). I can't Zoom the Video to Fullscreen and i am not able to scroll and pause but for simply watching it's just good enough.

excellent, thank you a lot !
(i installed the dl script, and i'am recompiling firefox with the suggested useflag)

p.s. does somebody play with a titanium powerbook ?
i'd like to ask a bit about the video board ati-r128 that i have here on my pismo-G4-upgraded: still having issues with the ati video driver : P
(removing GLX has solved 90% of my problems)

i dont know if this was in respond to my Post but i was saying that you should recompile Gnash with the agg useflag (not firefox).

about youtube, i did as you suggested, and firefox works great as you have described, thank you.

The issue i have is not related to gnash, it's simply related to the video card i have here: ati r128, that sometimes causes issues when i launch video applications (mplayer, vlc). So i was asking if somebody has this video card in his hardware, and in case suggestions about how to fix 'cause is crazy a bit : P

then i guess i´m doing something wrong - i´m using the gnash overlay too ( i´m enabling agg too) and all i got when trying to open something in youtube were "unsupportted / invalid flash v.8 implementation" errors. I just saw a new gnash version is out, will try this one as soon as i have access to this lappy.

@ddc : can´t help, sorry, have a 4 years old alubook with a radeon card.

cheers
