Hello.

I am using an acer 5720Z laptop and there is a problem with the fan and 64 bit, for some reason it doesnt update the temprature so if the laptop starts cold the fan stays off till it over heats and shuts down, then it starts hot so the fan keeps going and never stops.

This big is outlined here :

http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9167

they have a script there :

http://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=15547&action=view

but it is not working... from what I understand it reads / modifies the /proc/acpi/dsdt im not sure tho..

the script isnt doing anything on my pc, maybe because its an 5720Z instead of a 5720, but i cant see it, the hardware is almost exactly the same.. cpu and wireless seem different thats all.

anyway, can someone help me figure out why its not working ? how to get /proc/acpi/dsdt ? or if i can just turn the fan on.. i dont care if it ever turns off...the laptop is usaually plugged in.

thanks!

OK!

the script edits memory, and depending how much memory your system has.. its a different address..
i contacted the creator and he gave me an updated script.
