hi folks,

since recent updates i seem to have problems with my locales.

although i can't remember any changes, the following warning makes me uncomfortable:
Code:
warning: setlocale: LC_ALL: cannot change locale (de_DE.utf8)

this is my /etc/env.d/02locale
Code:

LANG="de_DE.UTF-8@euro"
LC_ALL="de_DE.UTF-8@euro"
KDM_LANG="de_DE.UTF-8@euro"

this is my /etc/locale.gen
Code:
en_US ISO-8859-1
#en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8
#ja_JP.EUC-JP EUC-JP
#ja_JP.UTF-8 UTF-8
#ja_JP EUC-JP
#en_HK ISO-8859-1
#en_PH ISO-8859-1
de_DE ISO-8859-1
de_DE@euro UTF-8
#es_MX ISO-8859-1
#fa_IR UTF-8
#fr_FR ISO-8859-1
#fr_FR@euro ISO-8859-15
#it_IT ISO-8859-1

thanks for any hints!

cheers!

alex

Hi,
I have the same problem.

When init on my laptop starts I get several errors same as mentioned above, except I use different locale (see below).

However when in X, locale command reports expected result:

Code:

LANG=
LC_CTYPE="cs_CZ.UTF8"
LC_NUMERIC="cs_CZ.UTF8"
LC_TIME="cs_CZ.UTF8"
LC_COLLATE="cs_CZ.UTF8"
LC_MONETARY="cs_CZ.UTF8"
LC_MESSAGES="cs_CZ.UTF8"
LC_PAPER="cs_CZ.UTF8"
LC_NAME="cs_CZ.UTF8"
LC_ADDRESS="cs_CZ.UTF8"
LC_TELEPHONE="cs_CZ.UTF8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="cs_CZ.UTF8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="cs_CZ.UTF8"
LC_ALL=cs_CZ.UTF8

I think it is some change in init scripts though I don't know where it resides... Maybe time to report a bug?[/code]

For some reason beyond me, the init system doesn't like LC_ALL in /etc/env.d/02locale anymore. Try putting _just_ the following in /etc/env.d/02locale:
Code:
LANG="de_DE.UTF-8@euro"
KDM_LANG="de_DE.UTF-8@euro"
LC_COLLATE="C"
