hello everybody!

i once installed gentoo on an old world mac. unfortunately i didn't manage to install the boot loader. so now i can't boot anymore. and, i couldn't repartition my harddisk, so i had to delete macOS.

i then tried to install debian but the boot floppies didn't work (they didn't even boot!). i once had a boot floppy that worked (miboot) or at least loaded the kernel until the point where there was a root floppy needed. unfortunately i didn't have one.

is there a possibility to create a boot floppy where i can boot the kernel from haddisk?

regards, sirld

Running make install after configuring the kernel will give you the option to create a bootdisk. When I last made one about a year ago it worked straight off (on x86).

It doesn't on PPC. Unfortuately, I wasn't ever able to make a bootdisk with a kernel small enough. However, if you've got the kernel booting on a floppy, try passing the kernel options from the LiveCD (there's a utility for this, but I'm not sure where it is located) and use the kernel on the floppy to boot into the Gentoo CD. This may work. Hope that helps.
