PostPosted: Fri May 23, 2008 3:05 am    Post subject: Problems marble and gpsd Reply with quote

Hi,

just wanted to note, that I have tried to compile marble unsuccessfully for several days now. My problem apparently was that I was trying to compile with gpsd support, but that does not work with gpsd-2.36 according to http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157780 and https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211414

So, until https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=210789 is resolved, maybe the marble ebuild should disallow version 2.36 of gpsd?

best regards,
Patrick

While trying to compile kdebase-scm*, I always get following error. What's correct syntax for paludis keywords and unmask files?

Unmask it.
Put "kde-base/libkonq-scm *" in /etc/paludis/keywords_conf/keywords.conf (if I remember the path correctly)

I would suggest, that you put "kdebase-scm* *" in your keywords.conf file and "kdebase-scm*" in your package_unmask.conf file.
If you want to unmask more the kdebase-scm, you can use kde-scm* instead of kdebase-scm*.

I currently have PyQt4 (4.3.3)... probably need 4.4. But the portage version doesn't want to compile :). Will wait for 4.4.2.

Also, I can't find ebuild for kdebindings (at least in the kde-experimental overlay).

Anyone else having difficulty building kopete with jabber support??

Thanks

Nope, only warnings there, sorry.

Here we are... problem related to telepathy! Strange how cmake continued to compile kopete all the way to "59%", eventhough an error occurred at "48%":

Ah, have seen that before.
kopete + telepathy has been broken for quite some time.

Hallo.

I have compiled kde-svn with paludis: no problem, but now everytime i compile something i can read in console:

running kbuildsycoca4 ......... (!!)
killing dbus for kbuildsycoca4 (ok)

After, the package seem to be installed correctly, problemless, but i don't understand this strange thing....

Someone have some info for me? Thanks and excuse for my english...i'm from Italy

Ciao :)

Now I am able to start installing kdebase-scm*. But installation failed with kcontrol-scm due to missing kemoticons.h.

Anyone run into this problem? Which package should contain this header file?

which indicates that headers are in the right place.

Should libkipi pull from svn more headers?

I've seen this now 3 times, but I can't reproduce it.
These are the facts:
- The pkg-config file is where it should be
- The pkg-config path points to the right dir
- It works on my system just fine

So it searches in the right place but still fails.

Edit:

Could you maybe try this:
Change
Code:
PKG_CONFIG_PATH="${PKG_CONFIG_PATH}:${KDEDIR}/$(get_libdir)/pkgconfig"

to
Code:
PKG_CONFIG_PATH="${KDEDIR}/$(get_libdir)/pkgconfig:${PKG_CONFIG_PATH}"

in the libkipi kdebuild.

I'm trying to use the Desktop effects with an ati video card, using the proprietary ati drivers (in particular, the card is a Radeon X1650), but I'm not having much luck. For a long time, I only got a black screen, but recently it started working. The only issue is that it's terribly slow. For example, displaying the yakuake terminal, it takes about a second, while, without Desktop effects it takes only an instant. Should I blame the ati driver for this (I read in the past somewhere that ati drivers are indeed slow), or is there any setting I can tweak to improve the situation?

On another issue. About a week ago, I asked whether someone besides me was having problems with the logout dialog. Since I got no answer, and I'm still experiencing the same issue (kde crashes when trying to display the logout dialog, everything works fine if I disable it from SystemSettings/SessionManager), I'm asking it again. And don't think I'm not interested in a negative answer: if you can log out without problems, please say so: at least I know it's a problem of my system, and not of KDE itself.

Thanks

Try the latest drivers (Catalyst 8.5), that release has improved Desktop performance a lot. Compiz is also, at least for me, way faster than KWin. For VTweaking the xorg.conf, look here. If that isn's sufficent, there's still xcompmgr.

Is java or flash working currenty in Konqueror in KDE4 SVN? I updated yesterday a it is still not working :( Is it Konueror problem or just wrong setup on my side?

Thanks in advance!

I have flash working for me now with the latest flash and nspluginwrapper in KDE4 SVN. I had a problem with youtube for a while, but that cleared itself up without me having to do anything. I have noticed that sometimes I have to kill all the nsplugins as they sometimes continue after I have closed the windows and konqui. As for Java, I haven't been to a website with Java for a long time now, so I'm not sure if it works or not.
