Is java or flash working currenty in Konqueror in KDE4 SVN? I updated yesterday a it is still not working :( Is it Konueror problem or just wrong setup on my side?

Thanks in advance!

I have flash working for me now with the latest flash and nspluginwrapper in KDE4 SVN. I had a problem with youtube for a while, but that cleared itself up without me having to do anything. I have noticed that sometimes I have to kill all the nsplugins as they sometimes continue after I have closed the windows and konqui. As for Java, I haven't been to a website with Java for a long time now, so I'm not sure if it works or not.

Well, that's strange. I am not using nspluginwrapper as I have 32 bit system and I have never seen working flash in KDE4 SVN :-( Currently I am using beta version of flash (Flash 10.0 b218) and Konqueror can obviously see it (it is in the list of "about:plugins"). But e.g. on youtube I can see just gray rectangle where video is supposed to be. Is is working fine in Firefox :-(

Should I blame the ati driver for this (I read in the past somewhere that ati drivers are indeed slow), or is there any setting I can tweak to improve the situation?
Try the latest drivers (Catalyst 8.5), that release has improved Desktop performance a lot. Compiz is also, at least for me, way faster than KWin. For VTweaking the xorg.conf, look here. If that isn's sufficent, there's still xcompmgr.

On another issue. About a week ago, I asked whether someone besides me was having problems with the logout dialog. Since I got no answer, and I'm still experiencing the same issue (kde crashes when trying to display the logout dialog, everything works fine if I disable it from SystemSettings/SessionManager), I'm asking it again. And don't think I'm not interested in a negative answer: if you can log out without problems, please say so: at least I know it's a problem of my system, and not of KDE itself.

Here it works.

I'm using the latest drivers in portage. Most of the times it's fast enough, but there are several actions (maximizing a window, restoring it, displaying the yakuake terminal) which are slower. At any rate, I'm keeping desktop effects on, especially since it solved my logout problem.

Which kind of behavior are you experiencing? I update kde from svn about 12 hours ago and openoffice writer seems to work correctly (I just launched it right now, to answer you, so I can have missed the issue you're referring to. If you can be more precise about it, it would be helpful).

Should libkipi pull from svn more headers?

I solved it with
Code:
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib/pkgconfig paludis -i libkipi

I think it's been renamed kde-base/kdeplasmoids (I'm not sure, though. I noticed a message last time I synced the repository, a couple of hours ago, which seemed to indicate this).

Something strange seems to be wrong with your overlay. Whenever I try to install something from it, I a lot of strange output, it looks like a very corrupted ebuild. The actual ones in the repository look normal, though. I've posted the output here.
But the actual problem, of course, is that the entire overlay doesn't work. Is the problem on your side or on mine?[/url][/code]

I think it's more likely, that you have a fault in your config files.

I'm having the same issue since early 4.0 builds, maybe we should report it... Some time ago it was also with Firefox but since a few months it's only Openoffice, but it's quite annoying.

By the way, another issue: Anyone knows if there's RAR support in Ark? Any special flag?

Thanks.

I think so (at least, in the filter list of the open dialog, I see RAR files). As how to enable it, I'm not sure, I didn't do anything special. I think you need to have rar installed or to enable the archive use flag, but I don't know which of the two (at a guess, I'd say the former, though).

it seems like a problem that's due to the following factors:

1. hard masked packaged not unmasked
2. wrong user permission when running paludis.

So, kdelibs fails because phonon is not installed and phonon requires kdelibs as a dependency. What gives?

kdelibs compile-time error:
Code:
...
-- Found KDE4 automoc: /usr/bin/automoc4
-- Phonon includes NOT found!
-- Phonon library NOT found!
CMake Error: Phonon library or includes NOT found!
-- Configuring done

!!! ERROR in kde-base/kdelibs-scm:
!!! In cmake-utils_src_configureout at line 1065
!!! Cmake failed
...

edit: I'm a Plaudis user. Setting kdelibs' use flags to -* doesn't help.

This was from my first attempt at compiling the overlay (kdelibs r813630) - any ideas on how to beak the cyclic deps?

Cheers

Exactly the same problem I'm having. I looked a bit harder and since Phonon needs kde4-config and kdelibs needs Phonon there is probably no way to fix this until upstream wakes up. I hope someone will prove me wrong.

So, kdelibs fails because phonon is not installed and phonon requires kdelibs as a dependency. What gives?

kdelibs compile-time error:
Code:

-- Found KDE4 automoc: /usr/bin/automoc4

-- Phonon library NOT found!
CMake Error: Phonon library or includes NOT found!

edit: I'm a Plaudis user. Setting kdelibs' use flags to -* doesn't help.

Working on it. Please be patient. :)

Kcontrol fails: log at: http://phpfi.com/320306

Seems to have something to do with nepomuk, phonon, kcm_knotify, and kcm_kded. I have the sematic-desktop USE FLAG disabled, as I had problems with nepomuk using constantly 99% of cpu, and dragging down performance to almost unusable level.

Should I go back to default setting? I'm NOT using any /etc/paludis/sets/ over-rides. I decided to follow Berniyh's advice, and just go with default "sets" as in the overlay.

Could my problem be related to the above phonon stuff?

Something strange seems to be wrong with your overlay. Whenever I try to install something from it, I a lot of strange output, it looks like a very corrupted ebuild. The actual ones in the repository look normal, though. I've posted the output here.
But the actual problem, of course, is that the entire overlay doesn't work. Is the problem on your side or on mine?[/url][/code]

I think it's more likely, that you have a fault in your config files.

Yeah, my bashrc had output making paludis fail.

I now have another rather strange problem when trying to compile phonon:
Code:

Seemingly phonon does not compile because phonon is not installed?

Hi *.
This might be a bit OT.
I would like to try kde 4 but at the same time I would like to keep my stable version of kde3. Is there an easy way to get this?

At the moment there is no problem because there is no unstable version of kde, but is there ever going to be a 3.5.10?

Thanks!
