touch failed errors almost always means that /proc is not mounted. Are you working in a chroot and forgot to mount it?

i have the drive mounted as /dev/hda3 its my root dir
i did the default
/dev/hda1 boot
/dev/hda2 swap
/dev/hda3 /

all have been mounted as far as i rember i was able to do emerge --sync and emerge portage 2 days ago no problem

What is the output when your run "mount", in a terminal window or on the console?

after mount and my bad is was hdb not hda :)

Code:

/dev/hdb3 on / type ext3 (rw,noatime)
proc on /proc type proc (rw)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec)
udev on /dev type tmpfs (rw,nosuid)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,nosuid,noexec)
/dev/hdb1 on /boot type ext2 (rw)
none on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw)
usbfs on /proc/bus/usb type usbfs (rw,noexec,nosuid,devmode=0664,devgid=85)
/dev/sdb1 on /fileserv type ext3 (rw)
/dev/sda1 on /web type ext3 (rw)

i need this fixed anyone know nothing emerges now and i cant start up apache mysql keriomailserver but ssh is runing ?

Root wouldn't happen to be out of diskspace would it?

i think it has something to do with the cortulies thing now i look at it

i seen the other post on it and the bug report but dont understand what i need to do for the fix
