So, do I have add all the services in the runlevel default and boot to initng. The point of contention is here:

Code:

wall rahul # ng-update add system/procfs
system
Warning: "system/procfs" isn't a script or a runlevel, it's being removed from list
Error: you didn't specify any script

of course that does not answer your question, but why do you fight with initng when openrc is out there?

I already have openrc. Does that mean with openrc there is no need for initng?

I don't know what gave you the idea that sysvinit/initng is not needed with openrc,
because the developer himself says that openrc does not replace them in this post:

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-5090821-highlight-openrc.html#5090821

If there is something I have missed however, I would like to be corrected.

You do need sysvinit, but initng isn't necessary. openrc is as good as initng.
