Hi, I've got a G4 PB Ti and put Gentoo on it. Right now there are two problems on the console (kde still compiling ;-)):
  • Colors on the console do work when logged in as root, but not when logged in as user
  • Third-level keycodes are not available. I'm using the "de" keybord layout, but all the usual and very necessary combinations like rightALT + "q" = @, rightALT + "e" = €, rightALT + "ß" = \, etc., don't work.
Any help appreciated :-). Thanks

don´t know what colors you mean, but this is probably a environment issue ( iow, you need to load the same vars you are using with other users or make this configuration the default for your system).

either you play around with xmodmap or you modifiy the default layouts ( at least that´s what i always did, dunno if there are any special layouts available already). A few links that may help :

hope this helps a bit further.

cheers

Thanks for your answer, gringo! The "color" issue is solved now, I had to tweak ~/.bashrc.
The keymap issue isn't solved. I think I'll try to tweak the default layouts. I'd like to define the apple key as third level key, but still trying to find a way... :-)
