doesn't compile with 2.6.26 and 2.6.27 kernel.
anybody know of any patch?

EDIT:
ok with zen-sources-zen2.
remove this patch(NVIDIA_kernel-173.14.09-2512683.diff) from nvidia-drivers in zen-overlay

don't think so. 177 series works with newer nvidia video cards.

Indeed...

But surprisingly Nvidia's AaronP made an official statement @nvnews.net disclosing a little info about "the significant changes" we're all desperately waiting for:

AaronP wrote:
I posted about it somewhere, but I can't find the post now. Anyway, a number of improvements to the RENDER acceleration on GeForce 8 and higher GPUs are being developed for the 177.* and 180.* driver series. These include support for the various repeat modes, transforms, and convolution filters, as well as acceleration for trapezoid rendering. In addition, resizing windows in KDE 4 hits a number of particularly slow fallbacks that we're working to avoid. The official release notes will mention these improvements when they're ready for prime-time.

Not much info, but at least it "looks like" 2D rendering improvements are high on their priority list. Let's wait (AGAIN) and see what happens...
