Still really enjoying einit, I have recently discovered there is no support for vmware (less importantly, neither is there support for atd)

Wouldn't be a problem if I could just start the service post-boot using the init.d scripts, however if I boot using einit, '/etc/init.d/service start' hangs forever on "* starting service"

Am I missing something, or is there a way to boot with einit, yet still be able to use the init.d scripts afterwards?

Thank you.

there is a flag to the gentoo init.d scripts, '--nodeps'. that tends to work like a charm.

for example:
/etc/init.d/service --nodeps zap
/etc/init.d/service --nodeps start

this should get you going. you can also add an einit wrapper for this in /lib/einit/modules-xml (just copy something else and modify accordingly :)).
