Not sure where to post this, so I will post it here. :)

Does anyone know of a SFTP client that supports private key authentication and either su or sudo to escalate privilege?

TIA

"sftp" from openssh should be able to use public key authentication. i don't know if that's different from private key authentication or if it means the same to you?

I do not think su/sudo is supported by SFTP protocol. Maybe SCP, though.

if you have ssh access then you can upload the files to a temp place and move them manually where they belong with sudo... if you are moving specific files on the remote machine you may be able to use ssh to execute a sudo command, something like
Code:
ssh user@host 'sudo bash -c "mv /file/name /new/file/name"'
i think...

i think the graphical WinSCP client for Windows (probably works in WINE?) could let you set a custom command, such as "su -" to run before the SCP session begins. Then you'll get the closest thing to SFTP for transferring files between local and remote while having su access in the remote. That's just a theory as I have not tried it :)
