I made a thread since, idk if anybody realizes but, we have it. Only available from git:

Code:
git://zen-sources.org/zen/kernel/zenrt.git

So, anybody need a realtime kernel maybe this is a good option ;), has tons of branches, btrfs works although i'm pending agreement from mason or astorm or somebody on a mutex change i made, reiser4 works, it's all clean and should be fresh and stable.

As always, #zen-sources on freenode - zen-sources.org, stay away from the zenmm-sources and zen-sources thread with zenrt related questions on the forums!

Fastest answers are always on #zen-sources

I don't respond to problems unless you test upstream, for example, 2.6.26-zenrt3, test 2.6.26.3-rt7, 2.6.27-rc5-zen1, test 2.6.27-rc5. This applies for ALL issues except those zen-related (Example: reiser4, btrfs, madwifi, eeepc, atl2)

Seems it doesn't work with uvesafb. Is there any solution for that?

Just one (maybe dumb) question.
It is real time kernel only useful for video and sound editing (and similar), or would I get some speed improvement when working with standard desktop programs (Openoffice, browser, compiling time to time, multimedia stuff - watching video and listening to music (mp3) ?

It might be useful if you suffer from bad interactivity (actually, I doubt it), but in that case ordinary zen-sources or simply configuring your kernel to be preemptive would be better. But it certainly won't speed thing up overall.

Does vmware (1.0.0.15) and/or virtualbox modules (1.6.4) compiles on this version - rt3 ?

It didn't compile on 2.6.26-zenrt1

Looks like that's quite easy to patch, even without C knowledge.
I use KVM though.

Kernel still runs just fine. Audio latencies are acceptable, but still way behind "THE audio kernel" 2.6.11-rt.
Playing with Ableton Live 7.0.7 which runs fine now with latest wine GIT + wineasio @ 2048 samples.

Desktop-interactivity and responsiveness is quite poor compared to latest -zen master (that one rocks regarding desktop usage), but that might be subjective. Ah wait, I ran GNOME on -zen, and am running KDE4 now on -rt...

The only way to find out if virtualbox works is to try it.

Those errors look similar to the errors nvidia had on 2.6.27 kernels, google it.

-zenrt2 has been added to the overlay under zenrt-sources.

i can't respond to that problem unless you test 2.6.26-rt3, if you experience the same results take it up stream (to rt people, clark williams)

2.6.26-zenrt3 pushed, tagged, ready to go on the new repo.

New pull urls on gitweb or first post in this thread.

Basically based off of latest rt (-rt7), new btrfs updates (disk format rev), reiser4 cleanups patch, and not much more than that.

Interesting , I don't do sound recording much but I never had a kernel more responsive that 2.6.11-nitro.

I could have a heavy compile like kdelibs going , download with emerge, play mp3s without even a glitch in the sound and still the desktop was amazingly responsive.

That was a good time for real-time. 8)
