I have not tested yet but it appears to have many updates.
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=118602

In case you missed the new Performance settings.
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=118088

Code:
Changes since 177.68:

    * Added support for the following new GPUs:
          o GeForce 9800 GTX+
          o GeForce 9800 GT
          o GeForce 8100P
          o nForce 780a SLI
          o nForce 750a SLI
          o Quadro FX 770M
          o Quadro NVS 160M
          o Quadro NVS 150M
    * Improved support for RENDER operations with the same source
and destination; this should enhance performance in
some situations, e.g. when dragging Plasma applets in KDE4.
    * Fixed a text rendering performance regression that affected
GeForce 6 and 7 series GPUs.
    * Fixed a regression that caused text to be missing or
corrupt on GeForce 6 and 7 series GPUs.
    * Fixed a regression responsible for false negatives during
SLI video bridge detection attempts after X server
      restarts.
    * Fixed a bug that resulted in AGP FW/SBA settings and overrides
being applied incorrectly when using the Linux kernel's
      AGP GART driver.
    * Fixed a bug that caused initialization of the builtin AGP
      GART driver (NvAGP) to fail.

It's in zen-overlay, masked matching the gentoo beta policy.

It's finally working really great on my 7800GTX! Also using kde svn.. it really feels like a new pc :P

PS: I'm using IPP 1 as when setting it to 2, it falls back to 1.. weird.. but still smooth

In the tree as of now, with its corresponding nvidia-settings. Masked as per beta policy.

Works alright on my rig too except for one thing that's been a problem with all
nvidia drivers:
When I switch to console with Ctrl-Alt-Fx I get double linefeeds.
By running
Code:

/etc/init.d/consolefont restart

it goes back to normal.
This has been a pain in the neck for a long time and I really don't know how to fix it.
Gerard.

Gerard, if you've been experiencing this for a long time (afaik I've experiencing something similar), then please post it over at nvnews.net in the forums,

that way the nvidia-devs will see & read it and if they can reproduce it will fix it :)

Thanks kernelOfTruth,
Quite some time ago I browsed the nv site,as I understood it at the time
they were not going to do anything about it.
But I'll give it a whirl.
Gerard.

I visited nvnews.net and it is full with the same compaint and ZERO solution.
Now that ATI has opensource drivers guess what my next graphic card will be.
Gerard.
