Blessed be!

I never noticed any down time. Cool.

By the way, I'm working on that quiz. I'm almost half-way. I've had other irons in other fires of late.

Blessed be!

A day late, but what the hell?! I just uploaded, the .configs for 2.6.27.35, 2.6.30.8, and 2.6.31.1 in both x86 and x86_64 flavors. It's the latest and greatest!

Blessed be!

I have a small question. Reading through this thread, I thought I saw something akin to supporting the Zen Sources. Is this no longer going to happen?

Considering the amount of flux in zen kernels presently, that is a difficult thing to accomplish. The idea is on the back burner.

Presently, using a vanilla seed and the command make oldconfig, you can have seed functionality and seed settings along with the zen extras. For the moment, that's the best way to work with zen sources.

Blessed be!

And yet another config finds its way to the site. I finally have the .configs uploaded for 2.6.31-tuxonice in both x86 and x86_64 flavors. I was hoping to make these the first .configs at my hopefully-soon-to-be-up (as in the ball is in their court now) web site. It was supposed to be up yesterday. Oh well.

I will post as soon as my site goes live.

Blessed be!

As you all can see by my sig, there are some changes underway. Pappy's Kernel Seeds now has it's own domain name, and it's running off a machine sitting about three feet away from me.

Since I have a dynamic IP address, there might be outages here and there. I'm going to see about setting up a failover soon. If the page doesn't come up, and you get a warning about zoneedit missing fh.php, my IP address has changed, and it didn't register at zoneedit. I will try to keep on top of this. It seems the automatic switchover isn't all that fast. It will work until I get a static IP address, though.

I want to thank NeedySeagoon for hosting the site thus far. I appreciate that more than any words I have can express. You are a real gentleman.

Blessed be!
Pappy

Awesome! 8)

Let me know if you ever need a hand with anything, server-wise.

It does. Is it rt sources patched with tuxonice, or tuxonice soures patched with rt? If it's that specific, send me your patches so I can set up the source properly. I have all your info, and await this answer.

Blessed be!

Thanks, guys!

I am really geeked to have this going. It's a goal I set when I first started playing with Gentoo. I wanted a server on line. I have it. :DOING HAPPY DANCE:

Blessed be!

Oops, forgot about that. :p

It's vanilla-sources-2.6.29 patched with the rt patch-2.6.29.6-rt23.bz2, reiser4-for-2.6.29.patch.bz2, and tuxonice-3.0.1-for-2.6.29.patch.bz2.

No problem. I can do custom source, I just need all the goodies to make it work. I'll get on this tonight.

I just noticed vanilla-sources-2.6.32_rc1 in portage. Do you have any plans to create a seed for that?

I decided to try vanilla on one of my machines to see how it works for it, so I was wondering. In the meantime, I'll use the latest existing seed for vanilla.

Well, vanilla-2.6.32_rc1 did this:

Code:

kernel/module.c:1995: warning: type defaults to 'int' in declaration of 'Elf_Hdr'
kernel/module.c:1995: error: expected ';', ',' or ')' before '*' token
kernel/module.c: In function 'load_module':
kernel/module.c:2203: error: 'strmap' undeclared (first use in this function)
kernel/module.c:2203: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
kernel/module.c:2203: error: for each function it appears in.)
kernel/module.c:2239: error: 'symoffs' undeclared (first use in this function)
kernel/module.c:2239: error: implicit declaration of function 'layout_symtab'
kernel/module.c:2240: error: 'stroffs' undeclared (first use in this function)
make[1]: *** [kernel/module.o] Error 1
make: *** [kernel] Error 2

I'll try an earlier version.

Not a seed per se, but I do move it in that direction. I experiment with rc sources, and I do create .configs, but that is on an as needed, as time permits basis. I have the .32 source installed, but I haven't had time to play with setting up one yet.

Blessed be!

The .31 versions are what's out, and what I have .configs for, ready to go. I have .32_rc1 installed, but I have not tried to do anything with it. I'll see what I can see later, after I do a few other things.

Blessed be!

dreadlorde,

Lest you think I forgot you, here I am, after hopefully creating and patching the source properly so that this .config will work for you. If patching order is meaningless, then you're all set.

Click here for the new .config Compile as is.

For the best results, please do the following:

1) Move your .config file out of your kernel source directory (/usr/src/linux-2.6.29.6-rt23 ).
2) Issue the command make mrproper. This is a destructive step. It returns the source to pristine condition. Unmoved .config files will be deleted!
3) Copy my .config into your source directory.
4) Issue the command make && make modules_install.
5) Install the kernel as you normally would, and reboot.
6) Once it boots, please post /var/log/dmesg so I can see how things loaded.

Blessed be!
Pappy
