Yes it installs on Gentoo.
Its a free download (less than ten user licence is free) that installs a precompiled version of Apache, and an as yet unidentified database, along with a bunch of python scripts. There are downloads for various versions of glibc.
Following the instructions, I created a new user, unpacked the tarball, sued to the new user, and ran the install script. This unpacks a further tar ball, checks which port you want to run the system from, and starts the servers.
That's it! You can then login, remembering to change the default password (it prompts you to).
Journyx is very comprehensive, providing lots of ways of tracking time for various types of worker, including hourly paid, contractor, salaried etc. You can add projects and tasks (and subtasks) and there are a large number of reports that can be run.
Its all very customisable.
For my little 2 person business, it's too complicated, certainly for the moment, but for a slightly larger business, or for someone who has a bit more time to get to grips with it, I can see that it would be very useful.
