I think that gwenview requires nepomuk, so you'll need to enable the semantic-desktop use flag. Note that this will require a rebuild of kdelibs.

I really hope not!
But if this is the case:
- the kdebuild should be updated :)
- shouldn't it fail before if it doesn't find nepomuk?

EDIT: ok, the kdebuild needed to be updated because of this change:

The above patch works for me with -semantic-desktop.
Can anyone try with +semantic-desktop? I opened a bug here: https://www2.mailstation.de/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=120
I'm surprised it kept compiling until a month ago, because that change was made more than 4 months ago upstream :?

i've been having a strange issue with nepomuk since yesterday: nepomuk won't compile anything and won't find the install options for make. here's the output:

Quote:

These packages will be installed:

-debug build_options: recommended_tests split strip

Total: 1 package (1 rebuild)

i'm not experienced with cmake so i cannot give much more help on this issue. the fact is that the same has happened with other nepomuk packages (like libnepomukquery) and with kdeartwork-kscreensaver. i don't have any clue on this.
also it seems that without nepomuk compiling plasma-workspace would fail at compiling plasma-clock applet.

the problem wasn't in kdelibs, but in soprano: it has been found out and used by nepomuk, but not find and used by kdelibs. i think that this misunderstanding between the 2 lead to this strange error. after reinstalling soprano and kdelibs now nepomuk seems to be able to compile. i'll do a full genkdeall rebuild these days and see what happens. thanks again for the help.

funny thing... when I run paludis in gdb, everything works fine.
Doing it without gdb, the std::out_of_range exceptions pops up again...

You are using latest paludis I hope?
/edit: Looks more like a gcc or cmake issue.

Not sure if you know it, but kde 4.2 has been branched!

So I thought of "creating" live ebuilds for the kde 4.2 branch. Like that you won't get all the fixes for kde 4.2 immediately but not all the unstable/broken new features from trunk.

I'm already using such a branch live overlay here and did that for 4.1 as well. (The general kde stuff comes from the branch, apps like amarok and digikam are still svn...)

So I'm wondering if anyone is interested in a more stable kde 4.2 branch overlay too? If there some more ppl out there I could set up a git repo for it 8)

Just let me know here in the forums.

PS: There are already 2 ppl I know of :D

On that train of thought, I plan to switch back to the main gentoo ebuilds from the genkdesvn scm builds. Is there a proper way to do this? Should I uninstall the scm, and then install the 4.2 ebuilds? The other way around? Does it really matter?

Is there a script that would automate this, or will I need to manually go through and pick every scm package out of the database to update it by hand? I'm not really even sure of an efficient way to do this....eix doesn't identify the scm packages, and paludis -q only returns full matches to the query, so as far as I know I can't just paludis -q kde and look for all packages matching the genkdesvn repo. Any tips on how to get a list of all packages installed from a certain repo? Here's a chance to show off your bash-fu!

Thanks,
Dave

Is anyone able to build nepomuk-kde?

It's needed for playground-plasma now it seems.

Code:
(Soprano::PluginManager) searching plugin file from  "/usr/kde/svn/share/soprano/plugins"
(Soprano::PluginManager) searching plugin file from  "/usr/local/share/soprano/plugins"
(Soprano::PluginManager) searching plugin file from  "/usr/kde/3.5/share/soprano/plugins"
(Soprano::PluginManager) loaded plugin from "/usr/lib64/soprano/libsoprano_nquadparser.so"
Could not find parser plugin for encoding trig

No idea what that means... google has no idea either.

And soprano needs an export JAVA_HOME=$(java-config -O) in the kdebuild suddenly.

EDIT: we'll need nepomukquery and nepomukqueryclient from workspace/libs. Latter one gives me a headache kdebuild-whise
EDIT2: I fscking HATE paludis for not detecting file collisions. so nepomukquery and -client is libnepomukquery in the overlay, ok.
EDIT3: bleh, this was easier:

To compile nepomuk-kde, first add redland useflag to soprano, rebuild soprano and then you can compile nepomuk-kde

If anyone wants to come to go stable, we did the overlay:

handyk, thanks that indeed gets the build started.

Lots of the pim stuff needs fixing too.
* kdepim/libkholidays got merged into kdepimlibs, kdepim/maildir is gone too, so akonadi an korganizer kdebuilds need fixing.
* playground-plasma seems to depend on akonadi now

kipi-plugins have been failing too for two weeks now with some error about phonon.

Quitting Qt4.5 a couple of days ago solved both the nepomuk & kipi-plugins problems for me - unless of course it was co-incidence & everything would have worked anyway - i also got kdm back which was kind of a + :-)

Removing the dependency on the now non-existant libkholidays & the KMEXTRACTONLY reference helped with korganizer though I was still left with an error about kontact/plugins/planner until I made it dependant on the kontact use flag - no idea what happens if you do use kontact.

Ktorrent fails for me with an error referring to ktupnptest - I've tried disabling the upnp flag but the same error occurs - anyone else??

Yeah, I also removed the dependencies from the kdebuilds.

akonadi is fine, korganizer failed with
Code:
Linking CXX shared module ../../../lib/kontact_plannerplugin.so
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.3.3/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: cannot find -lkaddressbookprivate

kaddressbook is installed though, and that lib is in place. kontact useflag is enabled.

kde-base/kdedglobalaccel was renamed within the kde tree to kglobalaccel, renaming the packages seemed to work just fine though, just thought I should let you know.

it seems that today has been commited and built by default the bindings for the virtuoso server. the problem is that this support is curently broken and the build fails. this is due to sebastian having pushed upstream the virtuoso support.
here's my output from the soprano build of 2 mins ago:

I get the same build error (though I have virtuoso up and running fine)

I just modified the ebuild, added virtuoso useflag, added

Code:
        virtuoso? (
                dev-db/virtuoso-opensource
                dev-db/libiodbc
        )

to DEPEND, and
Code:
! use virtuoso && mycmakeargs="${mycmakeargs} -DSOPRANO_DISABLE_VIRTUOSO_BACKEND=ON"

in the compile section.

virtuoso ebuild:
http://gimpel.ath.cx/svn/gimpel/dev-db/virtuoso-opensource/

But well.. USE="-virtuoso" for now ;)

But well.. USE="-virtuoso" for now ;)

thanks, this workaround works for now. the problem is that i cannot install qt-webkit-4.5_rc and qt-assistant-4.5_rc for the lack of phonon, or better for qt-webkit not finding phonon... i'm using the scm phonon and added the /usr/kde/svn/lib64/pkgconfig folder to the pkgconfig path, but still qt-webkit cannot find phonon... isn't this a little strange?! i think that this is the reason why all my qt4 apps have aliasing problems. the font rendering doesn't work now.
