I'm still having build problems with amarok and playground-plasma.
It's since almost a month that those two packages doesn't build right.

Those are the build outputs:
amarok: http://pastebin.com/m50ad4d23
I think the main error is here:
Code:
Linking CXX shared module ../../../../lib/libamarok_collection-sqlcollection.so
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.3.2/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: /usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqld.a(client.o): relocation R_X86_64_32 against `mysql_server_last_error' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
/usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqld.a: could not read symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [lib/libamarok_collection-sqlcollection.so] Error 1
make[1]: *** [amarok/src/collection/sqlcollection/CMakeFiles/amarok_collection-sqlcollection.dir/all] Error 2

playground-plasma: http://pastebin.com/m32f4f005
I think the main error is here:
Code:
[ 31%] Built target plasma_applet_stockwidget
make[2]: *** No rule to make target `/usr/share/dbus-1/interfaces/org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver.xml', needed by `containments/cluttereddesktop/screensaver_interface.cpp'.  Stop.
make[1]: *** [containments/cluttereddesktop/CMakeFiles/plasma_containment_cluttereddesktop.dir/all] Error 2
make[1]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....

The needed xml is in /usr/kde/svn/share/dbus-1/interfaces/ and not in /usr/share/dbus-1/interfaces/
How could I tell it to cmake?

Maybe there is some dependency missing or to be rebuild?

i'm now updating xorg live packages and then go with kde-scm. i'll let you know what i've got here.

Solved patching /containments/cluttereddesktop/CMakeLists.txt

This is the new ebuild:
Code:

Plasma-workspace fails. Deleted .kdesvn, and kdebase source, and tried again, same result. Yesterday, on my kdesvn-portage Gentoo install partition, this didn't happen, so it seems it's specific to paludis???
Code:

Anyone else see this, and have a fix? It's preventing booting into kde with a grey screen and plasma-workspace crash dialog box.

UPDATE: Fixed in svn http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/KDE/kdebase/workspace/plasma/containments/desktop/desktop.cpp?r1=869837&r2=872137 Compiles, and reboots OK.

I wanted to try bespin theme so I prepared some ebuild for that. It is probably not perfect but is works and maybe someone finds it useful.
Just store it to:
${kde-svn-overlay-dir}/x11-themes/bespin/bespin-scm.kdebuild-1

Code:

# Copyright 2007-2008 by the individual contributors of the genkdesvn project

Since about a week, kde global shortcuts stopped working, and going to the corresponding page in SystemSettings displayed an error message. Today, annoyed by this fact, which prevented me from installing the new revisions of KDE, I decided to investigate the issue. Looking at the svn commits, it seems that the support for global accelerators, which was in kdelibs, was moved to kdebase/runtime, in a directory called kdedglobalaccel. I installed that manually and that made the global shortcuts work again. I then decided to try to create an ebuild for that. I did that by modifying the ebuild for drkonqi, and here's the result, if someone wants to try it:

Code:

KMNAME=kdebase-runtime
inherit gks-svn-meta

DESCRIPTION="KDE global accelerators daemon"
IUSE="debug"
KEYWORDS=""

DEPEND=""
RDEPEND=""

This should be saved in kde-base/kdedglobalaccell/kdedglobalaccel-scm.kdebuild-1 in a repository (I put it in the kde4-experimental repository, but I think that anyone will do) and should be added to keywords.conf or to the kdebase set.

UPDATE: As a work-around hack, at the bottom of /usr/portage/distfiles/svn-src/KDE/kdebase/kdebase/workspace/plasma/runners/nepomuksearch/CMakeLists.txt I commented out the subdirectory, like this, and plasma-workspace now compiled. I don't enable nepomuk anyway, so no big deal for me.
Code:
if(Nepomuk_FOUND)
#  add_subdirectory(nepomuksearch)
endif(Nepomuk_FOUND)

Someone is able to build right amarok-scm?
I don't know if my problems are related to https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=238487, but I can't build amarok from svn sources since more than a month!

Where can I find a description of the REAL problem on amd64, so I can try to solve it?

That bug has all the info.. it explains the problem pretty well... What else do you need to know?
FYI, I couldn't find an ebuild that worked with amarok, so I compiled mysql by hand:

If you find a working ebuild let me know please.

Mysql version is 5.0.60-r1 - last amarok update is from a week ago, working fine.

which version of mysql?
And can you confirm that amarok does NOT crash when starting?

Mysql version is 5.0.60-r1 - last amarok update is from a week ago, working fine.

I can confirm that with the same patch amarok-scm builds fine with mysql-community-5.0.51a

You should report this patch here: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=238487
They didn't seem to figure out a way to build amarok correctly yet.
Btw, I tried it, and it works for me too :D
Thanks

They already know this is a solution, but is too dirty to include it on the ufficial eclass.
I tryed to do the same thing, but using the parameter "--with-pic" of mysql, not forcing pic on the CFLAGS, but the result hasn't been the same...

It should be added for USE="-static" builds on x86_64 systems at least. It doesn't break mysql so far, and OpenSUSE & RedHat seem to agree that it is correct to do so.

Back on topic.. about solving the plasma-workspace compile error...

It misses that result.h, which is part of libnepomukquery in runtime, or libs/nepomuk in workspace. Adding latter one to KMEXTRACTONLY doesn't help here.

Looking at KDE4 on my OpenSUSE box at work, libnepomukquery.so is part of kdebase4-workspace (monolithik there). But I do not have this lib nor its headers here on the Gentoo box, though I do have nepomuk installed, of course. Are we missing a package/kdebuild maybe?

After following a lot of "discussion continues here" links I got to this one.

My question is quite simple. It might be answered before, but it's a bit difficult to search for it considering the huge amount of posts.

I installed 4.1.2 from portage. I also have 3.5.10 installed. I tried to build 4.svn, but many packages are finding the header and lib paths of 4.1. That causes many of them to fail (almost 70 of 212). I'd like to build 4.svn without removing 4.1.2 first. Is there anything I can do about it, or do I really must remove 4.1.2 before running paludis?

Sorry in advance if this question has been answered a million times before.
