i dont recall anyone doing this so far... in any case, the local service and /etc/einit/conf.d/local.start and /etc/einit/conf.d/local.stop tend to be a nice place to start anything useful that we hadnt thought of back then :).

alternatively, /lib/einit/modules-xml is the place where the services are stored. modifying those you should be able to roll anything you need.

What exactly do i type in local.start. Do i just write the service name 'readahead-list' or is there some kind of command i need like 'start' or 'begin' etc. And also, do i have to add this to .xinitrc as with 'alsactl restore' (thx for that solution also, worked quite nicely).

heh well, the local.start is a regular shell script... so whatever works on the shell works in there ;D.

np for the alsactl restore trick ;D.
