I'm using avant-window-navigator, but I really like Rocketdock at http://rocketdock.com/ . Unfortunately, it's only for Windows; there doesn't seem to be a Linux version. Or maybe there is something like it? I'm using avant-window-navigator, but it seems to randomly make new application instances when I want it to just load the ones that already exist, and make windows reappear on the right side.

Maybe I could try it in Wine, but to me it isn't worth the effort since I already have truly native alternatives.

I tried wbar, and it seemed neat in some ways; I like how it zoomed in and out of all the icons sequentially in a way that avant-window-navigator doesn't. However, it lacks a graphical configuration tool, and there was no obvious way to set it to make each icon use an instance of an application that was already loaded (for example, when I clicked the Firefox icon, it always made a new instance of Firefox, instead of just using the instance that already existed); thus I'm still using AWN.
