Here you have my own livecd tuned for Asus Eee 901:
http://technoportal.pl/files/eee901_livecd-0.2.iso
http://technoportal.pl/files/eee901_livecd-0.2.md5

You can easily convert this livecd iso to real LiveSDCard (or pendrive for that matter) using guide found here:
http://wiki.eeeuser.com/howto:installgentoo (section Install Disc).

My LiveSD has:
- 2.6.27-zen4 kernel (almost) tuned for Eee 901 (especially it has libata, so disk performance is much higher than on gentoo minimal livecd)
- ethernet and ralink wifi drivers
- xorg with xfce (and compiz-fusion)
- mozilla-firefox
- assorted tools (mc, parted, etc.)

Please report what can be improved on this livesd (especially for other models of Eee PC). As of now kernel 2.6.28-rc7-zen1 causes livesd boot failure, it complains about missing livecd.squashfs (some kind of Squashfs 4.0 issue?). It boots with 2.6.27-zen4 :)

Squashfs 3.4 is not compatible with 2.6.28 kernels, and squashfs 4.0 does not read squashfs 3.x filesystems.

I have a live-ebuild (currently 4.0) for sys-fs/squashfs-tools if you are interested ...

Thanks!
Strangely, it still fails when I'm trying to boot .28 from pendrive. It can't find "media" and of course .squashfs file. The very same iso boots fine from CD 8O or when I rebuild the image with .27 kernel. Kernel config is almost the same for .28 and .27.
What can be wrong? Something with USB settings?
