I'm using zen-sources 2.6.28-r4 and I tried to standby with: s2ram or hibernate-ram. This works fine unless I enable desktop efects in kde4. (I'm sure its the same if I ran compiz however). In that case it goes to sleep without a problem, but on resume the system freezes. I can still move the mouse, but everything else is not repainted.
I'm using the radeon driver that comes with zen-sources on an x-server 1.5.3 and mesa 7.2.
This is my xorg.conf: http://rafb.net/p/jYdKlb38.html
And the card:
