I have two related questions about Python 3.0:

1 - I know there is an ebuild avalaible for Python 3.0 at http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/python/.
Is it possible to have a few hints on how to install this ebuilt?

2 - I don't want to mess with portage and other Gentoo related installations. Is it possible
to install Python 3.0 under another name than python, say python3, so I can use it with
my applications without breaking my Gentoo boxes?

Many thanks,

I would like to know that too and if they are slotted.
I know that theres an eselect module for python being developed but how far has it been completed?

1- you should read the official doc about overlays here
2- you just need to have a look at the ebuild here, it looks like it uses slots ;)
Code:

...
SLOT="3.0"
...

about the eselect mode.. here's the ebuild: http://overlays.gentoo.org/svn/proj/python/projects/eselect-python/trunk/
maybe you also need an updated version of python-updater: http://overlays.gentoo.org/svn/proj/python/projects/python-updater/trunk

btw, your link gives all this informations, sometime we just have to read..
