Right where to start!

I've been using vmware 1.07 on my Gentoo colo box and thought I'd go for vmware 2.0. All seems to have gone through fine without a problem but when trying to access the interface http://<ip>:8222 or https://<ip>:8333 I get the 503 service unavailable error. So after some digging I so far have this info:

The box is running:

Apache2
PHP
Mysql
Shoutcast
SC_trans
IRSSI

uname
Linux 2.6.27-gentoo-r7

tail -12 /var/log/vmware/hostd.log

Could the clue be in here?

I got the same thing after a reboot. I actually used it for two days before this and did not install or update anything at all since.

I may have ran revdep-rebuild though.

[EDIT] here is the revdep-rebuild

Code:

* Collecting system binaries and libraries
* Generated new 1_files.rr
* Collecting complete LD_LIBRARY_PATH
* Generated new 2_ldpath.rr
* Checking dynamic linking consistency
[ 2% ] *   broken /opt/vmware/server/bin/vmware-mount (requires libfuse.so.2)
[ 19% ] *   broken /usr/kde/3.5/lib32/libqtmcop.so.1.0.0 (requires libqt-mt.so.3)
[ 100% ]
* Generated new 3_broken.rr
* Assigning files to packages
*   /opt/vmware/server/bin/vmware-mount -> app-emulation/vmware-server
*   /usr/kde/3.5/lib32/libqtmcop.so.1.0.0 -> app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-soundlibs

[/EDIT]

revdep-rebuild did not fix the missing fuse problem with vmware-mount.

However emerging sys-fs/fuse did. Perhaps this should be a dependency of vmware-server.

[EDIT]The problem is not solved however. And neither did unmergeing and reemerging.[/EDIT]

Well I got it working again on my side by the following:

1) Stop vmware server
2) reboot
3) Uninstall vmware-server
4) rm /tmp/vmware-root/* -rf
5) rm /etc/vmware -rf
6) rm /var/log/vmware -rf
7) reinstall vmware-server
8) reconfigure vmware-server (run /opt/vmware/server/bin/vmware-config.pl)

Also I tried to make my user john as administrator but this time (it worked on the first install two days ago) it would not let me login at all. So I reconfigured with root as the administrator and it worked (well after I modprobed vmci)
