Hello again,

i need a specific debian-kernel-release(http://packages.debian.org/lenny/xen-linux-system-2.6.26-1-xen-amd64). As i need to compile it manually, i need the sources, but i can't find a deb-package for that, only thing i found was

http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/l/linux-2.6/linux-2.6_2.6.26.orig.tar.gz and
http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/l/linux-2.6/linux-2.6_2.6.26-13.diff.gz

as mentioned on the right side of the page.

So i extracted the content. The first one is just the plane vanilla-source as asumed, the second one contains a hell of diff-files, for i don't know what else.

So what can i do now to patch the kernel with the delivered diffs?
How do i merge theese two? The diff's don't match to the kernel-sources, as far as i can see in them?!

Kind regards, Florian

Moved from Kernel & Hardware to Unsupported Software, since it's not a gentoo patchset.

Usually you just cd to the dir containing the kernel sources and then you use patch -p0 < /path/to/diff-file, the -p level might need to be adjusted depending on the patch and the actual dir.

After wasting like 70mb bandwidth I've found that they are perfectly normal source tree and patch. Did you actually try to patch?

  • download both
  • uncompress both
  • cd linux-2.6-2.6.26/
  • patch -p0 < ../linux-2.6_2.6.26-13.diff

Regular patching procedure.
